daily notes (McColl Center field trip)
Today we met at the McColl center uptown for a field trip. Ive been to the McColl center before to see Aura Robsen? works made with found objects exhibit last spring. But today we got a guided tour which I did like and a sneak peak at the new ceramics exhibit. It was traditional pre-spanish mexican pottery which used lead free clay. I liked the black candle stick holders the most, very detailed work. The patterns on the plates and bowls looked amazing, made my hand hurt just looking, must have taken forever to finish painting. I also want to learn more about the residency program there. that vwould be really cool.
daily notes
Decided on my artist for the curating project, 2 we studied 2 that I chose. I saw an interesting documentary the other night on HBO. A graffiti aritist from England who has traveled the world tagging anything finally comes to the mecca of graffiti, New York, for a month long residency. I wasn't amazed at the graffiti as much as how it was displayed and how the city reacted over the course of the month. I like how it was set up as a scavenger hunt, it made me see how your ideas can be delivered to the world in many different ways. I'm also going to include one of my favorite paintings because its my show and i can do what I want.
